Director, Operations – ARD Communications

- Reporting to the AVP for Alumni Relations & Development (ARD) Communications, the Director, Operations will oversee project managers and digital operations, determine best processes and manage efficient workflow and resources to most effectively produce high-quality strategic communications in support of ARD goals and priorities.
- Organize project management team and manage project process to meet ARD needs effectively. Determine and oversee implementation of best tools for project management. Manage ARD Communications resources accordingly. Manage day-to-day operations of ARD Communications and budget administration.
- Oversee and collaborate with the senior associate director of digital operations and the project management team to develop and document processes for digital communications projects and systems. Provide, or direct data analysts in providing, reports and metrics from ARD Communications.
- Serve as integral member of AVP’s senior leadership team. Advise on communications strategies to achieve ARD goals and priorities effectively in close collaboration with AVP, fellow senior staff and ARD partners. Maintain a firm grasp of ARD’s goals and objectives, while understanding the broader University communications strategy and brand. Advise and consult with units and schools regarding ARD Communications.
- Lead internal communications staff and oversee ARD intranet website and newsletter. Act as primary liaison with ARD Human Resources and Staff Development. Lead onboarding for new employees regarding communications. Collaborate with ARD Human Resources and Staff Development and advise on communications content for ARD conferences and staff orientation.
- Manage hiring processes for ARD Communications. Manage onboarding process for new Communications staff and advise on process as it relates to communications for all ARD staff. Advise on staff development for ARD Communications and actively pursue opportunities for team development.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of alumni relations programs. Seek opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher required
- A minimum of seven years of professional work experience in communications, with proven ability to work across platforms (video, print, web) or similar professional work experience required.
- A minimum of four years of management experience, including staff required.
- A minimum of two years of experience developing and managing budgets required.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and constituent groups required.
- Experience working with executives and senior leadership required.
- Experience working within an established brand required.
