The Executive Director of Alumni Relations provides strategic direction, oversight, and resource management to define, enhance and effectively engage the College’s alumni. The Executive Director supports the goals of Alumni Relations to build and strengthen the alumni network by planning and implementing engagement opportunities which foster lifelong mutually enriching connections, support College priorities, create an inclusive community among alumni, current and prospective students and the College, and cultivate a culture of philanthropy. Engagement opportunities include events, benefits, and services, communications, volunteer opportunities, and campus and community partnerships. This position reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (VPIA) and serves as a member of the division’s leadership team and Visitor to the Board of Trustees. The advancement environment at McDaniel requires teamwork, a positive attitude, perseverance, optimism, and the ability to think strategically and creatively.


The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, demonstrated team-building management skills, experience working with diverse constituencies, attention to organizational planning and detail, and will possess strong and assertive leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus, with a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in an alumni relations and/or fund raising setting relevant to higher education; familiarity with principles and practices of annual, major and planned giving highly desirable.
