Dan Allenby | Principal & Founder

Dan is an author, speaker, and consultant who has worked with educational institutions for over two decades to train staff and volunteers and develop and evaluate annual giving strategies. His book – Ideas for Annual Giving – offers the latest designs for helping institutions increase annual giving and boost alumni participation. A recipient of the prestigious CASE “Crystal Apple” award for teaching excellence, Dan is an internationally-recognized expert on annual giving. He chaired CASE’s Institute for Senior Annual Giving Professionals and its Annual Giving Workshop for five collective terms and served on the faculty for CASE’s Summer Institute in Educational Fundraising. Previously, he was the assistant vice president for annual giving at Boston University, and also led annual giving and member marketing efforts at Tufts University, Georgetown University, and the National Geographic Society. Dan received an MBA from Boston College and a BA from James Madison University, and is certified in the Management of Communication Organizations by Tufts University. Connect with Dan on LinkedIn

Brian Allenby
 | Director of Operations

Brian has over 15 years of marketing, communications and fundraising experience at a variety of non-profit organizations and businesses, ranging from the music industry to transportation advocacy to environmental initiatives. He has worked with AGN from its earliest days and oversees day-to-day operations including membership, marketing, and technology. Brian has a B.A. in Political Science from American University. Skylar Beaver
| Consultant

Skylar brings more than a decade of annual giving experience to AGN. Along with her role on our faculty, she also helps manage recruiting projects. A frequent CASE presenter and past Chair of STAFF’s Sharing the Annual Fund Fundamentals, she currently serves as the Director of the Annual Fund at The Spence School. Previously, she worked at Washington and Lee University and Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Skylar holds a B.A. in Sociology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and an M.P.A. in nonprofit management from SUNY Brockport. Connect with Skylar on LinkedIn

Anthony Cernera
| Consultant

Anthony has a 10-year career in annual giving where he has overseen broad-based engagement and solicitation strategies for a variety of programs and constituencies. He is currently the Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Previously, he served at Stony Brook University, the University of Scranton and Sacred Heart University. Moira Duncan
| Manager of Finance and Administration

Moira brings over 25 years of experience in finance, human resources, and administrative operations to AGN, with a focus on bookkeeping, financial reporting and payroll. Previously, she served as a Finance & HR consultant with a variety of mid-sized organizations for over a decade, and also worked at GE Capital. Gina Fiorillo
| Consultant

Gina has over 20 years of annual giving and advancement experience, managing multi-channel fundraising efforts including direct mail, phonathon, and email. She currently serves as the Senior Director of Annual Giving at the Rutgers University Foundation. Her career includes work at Kean University and Douglass College as well as several non-profits including Slow Food USA and the George Street Playhouse. Elizabeth Keppel
 | Consultant

Elizabeth’s annual giving career has spanned direct marketing, frontline fundraising, volunteer and board management, and special campaigns. She is currently the Director of Development, Annual Giving at the University of Florida, where she oversees a university-wide leadership annual giving program. She has also worked in annual giving at the College of William & Mary. Emily Kernan
 | Consultant

Emily has more than 12 years of experience in annual giving, managing direct appeals, class giving and stewardship efforts. She’s a CFRE, a member of the Annual Giving Director’s Consortium, and she teaches regularly on the topic of philanthropy at Rice University. Currently the Executive Director of the Annual Fund at Rice University, she also held a number of positions in the annual fund at Lafayette College. Anne Murphy
 | Senior Consultant

Anne has over a decade of annual giving experience, including overseeing parent and alumni giving programs. Previously, she served as Director of Annual Giving at the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and held annual giving positions at St. Mark’s School of Texas, University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and at the Public Broadcasting Service.  | Program Manager

Sarah oversees the coordination of AGN’s training programs, working with our faculty experts and consultants to produce webinars and other valuable educational content. Her background includes diverse experience in high-end event and restaurant management, as well as travel planning services. Sarah has a B.A. in Art History from Skidmore College. Laura Tepper | Consultant

Laura has over 15 years of annual giving and major gift experience, including leadership gift strategy, volunteer management, reunion giving, direct appeals, and phonathons. She serves as the Director of Development at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she oversees all annual, major, and planned giving efforts.
